Taipei 101 has once again earned international media recognition. In a report published by BBC on October 9, Taipei 101 was listed as one of the world’s eight most beautiful supertall buildings.

Taipei 101 was once the tallest building in the world. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but its wind-resistant and earthquake-resistant design, developed during its initial construction to withstand frequent natural disasters, deliberately features inwardly indented corners at the building’s four sides to disrupt airflow and prevent the structure from swaying due to wind. In addition, Taipei 101 houses the world’s largest tuned mass damper, used to balance the building’s sway—offering protection even during typhoons. Its world’s fastest elevators can reach speeds of 1,010 meters per minute, though they will automatically halt if wind speeds exceed 51 meters per second. It is considered one of the safest skyscrapers in the world.

Other supertall buildings featured on the list include Moscow State University Main Building, Chicago Spire, The Shard in London, UK, Chrysler Building in New York, John Hancock Center in Chicago, Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and Burj Khalifa.
