Visiting Miaoli isn’t just about enjoying the tung blossoms. Every year in November when the chrysanthemums bloom, Tonghu Village in Tongluo, Miaoli is painted in swathes of white or golden hues. Bundles of chrysanthemums, as fluffy as cotton candy, blanket the land, creating a breathtaking sea of flowers that brings vibrant energy to the area.

Tongluo in Miaoli is the largest domestic producer of chrysanthemums. The plateau terrain, along with large temperature variations and high humidity, plus the reddish-brown acidic soil, is perfect for growing chrysanthemums. The region’s unique topography and climate advantages allow the Tongluo chrysanthemums to thrive. In addition to the round, chubby chrysanthemums, surrounding nurseries also bloom with bright flowers such as sunflowers and cosmos, while a refreshing floral fragrance wafts through the air — a true visual and olfactory feast of flowers. During the1to2month blooming season, countless visitors are drawn here.
