Taipei 101 has been ranked first in the "Global Top 10 Most Resilient Buildings" by the American magazine *Popular Mechanics*. This selection was a collaborative effort between the magazine, experts from Yale University in the United States, New York-based SHoP Architects, and the Vermont Resilient Design Institute.

Before Typhoon Soudelor hit in August this year, there was widespread concern among domestic and international media about whether Taipei 101 could withstand winds exceeding 66 meters per second—equivalent to a force 17 typhoon. Now, the latest article from *Popular Mechanics* has ranked Taipei 101 as the most resilient building in the world.

The report points out that Taipei 101 is located in an area prone to typhoons and earthquakes. To protect the building from potential natural disasters, the 5.5-meter diameter, 660-ton tuned mass damper has played a crucial role. Recent strong typhoons have further proven the building’s safety and high resilience.
