Maple Frenzy: Taiwan’s Maple-Viewing Hotspots

As the weather gradually cools down, reports of maple leaves turning red are coming in from all over Taiwan. In addition to the breathtaking crimson scenery, some areas also feature golden and orange-red larches and ginkgo trees joining the maples in welcoming visitors. Here’s a compilation of Taiwan’s maple-viewing spots—seize the chance to enjoy this limited-time natural spectacle while you can.

◎ Taoyuan Fairy Valley

Covering an area of over 200 hectares, Taoyuan Fairy Valley is home to tens of thousands of golden maples, which have now gradually turned into a dazzling golden hue. However, due to recent lack of rainfall in the park, the leaves may dry out faster, so be sure to plan your visit to catch the golden maple beauty in time. Additionally, after the golden maples, the park’s larches will also begin their color transformation to greet visitors.

◎ Fushoushan Farm

At Fushoushan Farm, popular maple-viewing spots such as Songlu and Mandarin Duck Lake have seen some palmate maples and purple-leaf maples gradually turning red since late October. By mid-November, during peak maple season, the farm is ablaze with vibrant red hues, offering a truly stunning sight.

◎ Shanlinxi

Since the start of winter, color-changing plants in Shanlinxi such as palmate maples, green maples, sweetgums, ginkgos, and metasequoias have been reporting gradual color changes. From mid-November to mid-to-late December is the best time for maple viewing. Additionally, Shanlinxi’s vast areas of metasequoias and larches stand tall in the park, glowing brilliantly golden—a unique highlight.
