A new land art attraction called "Jù" (Gather) has emerged in Kaohsiung. Created by artist Wang Zhiwen, it was handwoven using 5,000 bamboo poles and 250,000 oyster shells. Since its lighting-up debut at the end of October, this beautiful artwork has become a highly popular new spot in Kaohsiung. Nowadays, visitors can be seen strolling here for leisure, while children play and chase each other—offering solace from the pain caused by the Kaohsiung gas explosion incident.

The artwork "Jù" is located at the site of the 2014 August 1st gas explosion. At that time, the explosion severely damaged Children’s Park, which was almost completely destroyed. Now, a year later, restoration efforts have succeeded. Local legislator Chao Tien-lin collaborated with local social service groups to host the “Come Together Arts Festival,” inviting artist Wang Zhiwen to create the international-grade bamboo weaving art piece "Jù." In this artwork, bamboo symbolizes resilience, while oyster shells represent rebirth—symbolizing Kaohsiung’s post-disaster rise and renewal.

The land art piece "Jù" is conceptualized as an ocean castle, consisting of a main building and a corridor section, all woven primarily from local bamboo strips. The oyster shells, nurtured by the sea, hang like wind chimes, embellishing the structure. This design aligns with Kaohsiung’s identity as an ocean city. By day, sunlight filters through, creating playful patterns of light and shadow; by night, when lit up, it resembles a whimsical castle full of imagination.
