The countdown to New Year’s Day 2016 is about to begin. Erliao Mountain in Zuozhen District, Tainan City, has become one of the popular spots to welcome the first sunrise in recent years, attracting over 3,000 visitors in the past. This year, coinciding with a long holiday, based on visitor safety and in line with the Erliao Sunrise Shuttle Bus Plan, the 2016 Erliao Sunrise event will implement a 3,000-person capacity control, with entry only through ticketing, and in coordination with traffic management and shuttle bus schedules.

Located in Zuozhen District, Tainan City, Erliao has become a highly popular tourist destination in recent years and is also renowned as a photography hotspot. It is the lowest-altitude spot in Taiwan where you can witness both the sunrise and sea of clouds, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent scenery without having to trek long distances. This year, the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration has built an observation deck at Erliao with an exceptional view and a capacity to hold up to a thousand people. They will also invite the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group to perform, so that visitors can welcome the first ray of dawn amid the uplifting and hopeful sounds of drumbeats.

Considering factors such as available space and traffic, the organizers have decided to implement a pre-ticketing system to ensure a safe and comfortable viewing experience for visitors. Attendees must present tickets for entry and for boarding shuttle buses. This measure aims to enhance overall safety and maintain smooth traffic around the area.

The Siraya National Scenic Area Administration has planned for visitors to pick up their tickets in advance at designated locations (13 in total) before the event. Ticket collection begins on December 14, 2015 (104 year), and ends on December 31, 2015. Initially, 1,000 observation deck tickets for the newly completed “Sun-Viewing Platform” will be distributed. Once those are claimed, 2,000 general entry tickets will be given out, until all tickets are gone (maximum 4 tickets per person). Interested visitors are advised to note the ticket collection period.
