Riding an observation wheel not only offers a romantic view of the million-dollar night scenery but is also the best place to admire the beauty of the city. Australia’s Melbourne Star, alongside the UK’s London Eye and Singapore’s Singapore Flyer, is ranked among the world’s top three scenic observation wheels. It is a world-class iconic landmark in the Southern Hemisphere, and first-time visitors to Melbourne must come and pay homage.

The Melbourne Star observation wheel is located in the Docklands area and can be reached by Melbourne’s free tram from either Flinders Street or La Trobe Street stations. This is a shopping mall with a small amusement area, and there is also a street graffiti mural near the entrance that’s perfect for photos. It’s recommended that first-time visitors to Melbourne take some commemorative photos here.

This pure white Melbourne Star stands 40 stories tall with a diameter of about 120 meters. During the day, you can enjoy 360-degree views of Port Phillip Bay and the Macedon Ranges, taking in the vibrant beauty of Melbourne. At night, the 3.7-kilometer-long LED light display arranges the entire wheel into a star shape, making the Melbourne Star shine brightly against the night sky when viewed from afar.

The observation wheel has a total of 21 enclosed glass capsules, each capable of holding up to 20 people. A full rotation takes about 30 minutes, and the ride is very stable with minimal swaying, making it a challenge even for those afraid of heights. Additionally, there is an audio guide throughout the ride, directing passengers to look in specific directions while introducing them to Melbourne’s sights. Whether it’s the daytime city views, the romantic night scenery of the docks, or the romantic clouds at sunset, you can create perfect memories of Melbourne.
