To welcome 2016, Taipei 101 has released its New Year fireworks animation video in advance. Themed “Nature is Future – Returning to Simplicity and Embracing Nature,” this year’s music blends Eastern and Western cultures, offering more diverse patterns and more innovative displays. The total duration is expected to be 238 seconds, with 30,000 fireworks launched — the longest in history and something to truly look forward to.

The 2016 Taipei 101 New Year fireworks show collaborates with game developer BungBungame, with the theme “Nature is Future – Returning to Simplicity and Embracing Nature.” The aim is to showcase Taiwan to the world through an exciting countdown fireworks event, helping international friends understand that Taiwan is a country rich in natural biodiversity — with mountains, oceans, and more — allowing more people to get to know this land better.

To break away from previous fireworks presentation styles, new techniques have been employed. This year, domestic climbing experts were specially commissioned to help install launching platforms on every floor of the building’s façade using steel wires in a suspension method. It’s estimated that 8 additional launching platforms will be set up per floor, resulting in 56 more launching points overall compared to previous years, allowing for even more varied and creative displays. Groupe F, known for their expertise in creating layered fireworks effects, has specially designed for Taiwan a variety of real-life motifs representing Taiwan’s natural ecology — such as flowers, birds, trees, and aquatic creatures — bringing a brand-new experience for audiences of all ages.

Additionally, the total carbon emissions generated by this year’s Taipei 101 fireworks show amount to 9,707 kilograms. In response to environmental concerns, Taipei 101 will turn off the building’s exterior lighting (excluding the rooftop communication tower lights) from January 1 to January 8 — a total of eight days — saving enough electricity to offset 10,327 kilograms of carbon emissions, thereby balancing out the carbon produced by this fireworks event.
