The “2016 Tokyo Colorful Shopping Festival in Shibuya” ran from January 2 to the end of February 2016, lasting two months. For the first time, a shopping festival in Tokyo was organized by a Taiwanese company, with the bustling heart of Shibuya as its base, holding a series of events in the surrounding areas including Marui, Seibu Department Store, and PARCO.

The Tokyo Shopping Festival is a large-scale event. The festival period coincides with the Chinese New Year and Western Valentine’s Day holidays. A total of 11 department stores, including Shibuya Mitsukoshi, Shibuya Marui, and Shibuya MODI, are included in this Tokyo Shopping Festival. Moreover, discounts are offered by fashion clothing and dining establishments, including KOMEHYO — Japan’s largest second-hand brand store operator, Gap/GapKids, kaffe Orobianco design market, and Jean Pablo, which specializes in affordable Italian-style formal wear. These fashion and accessory specialty stores all provide special discounts during the shopping festival.

The first-ever “Thousands of People in Shibuya Shake for Red Packets” event is held daily within the area, giving out a total of 2 million yen in gift vouchers. Winners can use these “red packets” at 896 featured stores. Visitors only need to follow the “Cyber Shake” WeChat official account and visit the Shibuya Shopping Festival area during the event period to shake their phones anytime, any number of times.

Several other dining establishments in the Shibuya area also offer various discounts for international visitors, including the highly popular steak and wine restaurant “Tachigui Steak,” MOS Burger, and Grandma's GEORGES, all providing limited-time drinks or desserts as welcome gifts. Japanese izakaya “Doma Doma,” yakitori “Nanban-tei,” and “Houzan Tori Bouzu” also offer in-store discounts. More store discount offers will be announced successively.
