With the winter vacation travel peak approaching, to protect the rights and interests of travelers, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation has announced a list of travel agencies that require attention, aiming to prevent consumers from suffering losses when purchasing travel packages. The list covers the operational status of travel agencies from June 19, 104 (2015) to January 15, 105 (2016). Recently, some overseas travel companies or multi-level marketing businesses have promoted membership by claiming that referring others can earn travel funds or allow discounted bookings for tours, flights, and hotels on foreign websites. The Tourism Bureau also reminds consumers to stay vigilant to avoid compromising their travel rights due to membership sign-ups.

The list of 38 travel agencies that require attention is as follows
I. 8 travel agencies whose licenses have been revoked:
(1) Lovia (Taipei City, temporarily closed without proper reporting as required).
(2) Mitsubishi (Taipei City, expelled by the Travel Quality Assurance Association due to bounced checks, failed to replenish the bond).
(3) Shan Hong (Nantou County, expelled by the Travel Quality Assurance Association due to abnormal capital allocation, failed to replenish the bond).
(4) Xiang Fu (Taipei City, applied to withdraw from the Travel Quality Assurance Association, failed to replenish the bond).
(5) Guo Zhou (Kaohsiung City, expelled by the Travel Quality Assurance Association due to bounced checks, failed to replenish the bond).
(6) Yuan Bao (Taipei City, bond forcibly executed, failed to replenish the bond).
(7) Feng Xiang (Miaoli County, applied to withdraw from the Travel Quality Assurance Association, failed to replenish the bond).
(8) Dong Hai (Taipei City, applied to withdraw from the Travel Quality Assurance Association, failed to replenish the bond).

II. 10 travel agencies that have voluntarily applied for temporary closure:
Wen Kang (closed until 105/7/23, Taipei City), Ming Hong International (closed until 105/6/30, Taoyuan City), Xi Xin (closed until 105/8/31, Taipei City), Tong Yi (closed until 105/10/23, Taichung City), Tai Chang (closed until 105/11/30, Taipei City), National International (closed until 105/12/30, Taipei City), New Generation (closed until 105/12/16, Taipei City), Ju Qiao (closed until 105/12/24, Taipei City), Shanghai Tourism International (closed until 105/12/31, Taipei City), Hui Dong (closed until 105/12/31, New Taipei City).
III. 17 travel agencies that have applied for dissolution:
Alice (Taoyuan City), Instant Communication (Hsinchu City), Xin Lv (Chiayi City), Yuan Xiang Qing (Taoyuan City), Ri Peng (Taipei City), Zou Ba (Taipei City), Tian Xiang International (Kaohsiung City), Fu Tai Wang (Taichung City), Fei Xiang International (Taipei City), Rui Ji (Taoyuan City), Wan Feng (Taipei City), Shi Mei (Taipei City), Guilin Landscape International (Kaohsiung City), Jin Long Loading Company (Taipei City), You He (Kaohsiung City), Chang Lin (Taipei City), Jun Hui (New Taipei City).
IV. Xiang An Travel Agency (Taipei City) has been listed as a non-creditworthy entity by the bill exchange.
V. 3 travel agencies that have not purchased performance bond insurance as required: Tian Lu (Taipei City), Xiang An (Taipei City), Harley (Kaohsiung City).
The Tourism Bureau reminds travelers that when participating in travel activities organized by travel agencies or purchasing international flights, they should choose legally licensed travel agencies to sign travel contracts for better protection. Confirm what is included and excluded in the tour package and whether there are any “optional activities.” Also, check the refund policy in case of cancellation (e.g., information on chartered flights, promotional tours, low-cost airline tickets, and refund rules).
