All eyes on these 9 brand-new travel destinations in 2016

A new year has begun, and 2016 will see the launch of many exciting new tourist attractions around the world—from The Hunger Games-themed parks to museums—that are sure to generate a lot of anticipation and add some thrilling options to your 2016 travel plans. Below is a list of nine new travel destinations set to open this year.
 
● Shanghai Disneyland (Shanghai Disneyland)
Shanghai Disneyland is expected to officially open to the public on June 16th. It features six themed areas including “Mickey Avenue,” “Gardens of Imagination,” “Fantasyland,” “Tomorrowland”… among which the most eye-catching is the Chinese Zodiac-themed land featuring Pixar characters.

● “Ark Encounter” Bible-Themed Park (Ark Encounter)
“Ark Encounter” is expected to open on July 7th and will become the world’s largest wooden structure building. Plans are currently underway to coordinate themed itineraries with nearby religious sites and museums.

● Palestinian Museum (Palestinian Museum)
The Palestinian Museum is expected to open on May 15th. The building is located in the West Bank of Jerusalem and is a project by a non-profit humanitarian organization aiming to promote Palestinian art and culture.
 
● FIFA Football Museum (FIFA Football Museum)
The FIFA Football Museum is expected to open early in the year in Zurich. It will be a sacred temple for football fans worldwide, housing an extensive collection of football artifacts and books, along with interactive football experiences.

● San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (San Francisco SFMOMA)
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, expected to open on May 14th, will become the largest art exhibition space in the United States—three times larger than the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.

● Louvre Abu Dhabi (Louvre Abu Dhabi)
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is expected to open towards the end of 2016.
