The Taiwan High-Speed Rail has updated train operation status again in the evening of February 6. Details are as follows:
Taichung Station – Zuoying Station Operational Schedule Adjustments

Due to the magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck Meinong, Kaohsiung at 3:57 AM today (6), operational mode will be adjusted tomorrow (7). Details are as follows:
1. From 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM (inclusive), the Taipei–Taichung section will maintain some scheduled services. Direct and semi-direct trains have been canceled. Starting from 8:30 AM, the Taichung→Chiayi and Chiayi→Taichung sections will operate two fully non-reserved seat (excluding business class) trains per hour to transport passengers.

Before 12:00 PM, the following Taipei–Taichung services have been canceled:
Southbound services: 101, 1305, 109, 1307, 1509, 115, 1309, 1513, 121, 1123, 1311, 1517, 127, 1129, 1313, 1521, 133
Northbound services: 250, 106, 1304, 1510, 112, 118
2. BRT buses from THSR Chiayi Station to downtown (via TRA Chiayi Station) have increased from four per hour to six. THSR Chiayi Station has also coordinated with bus operators to provide connecting services to TRA Tainan Station and THSR Zuoying Station, departing once full. These measures will continue until 12:00 PM tomorrow (7).
3. The operational mode after 12:00 PM will be announced before 6:30 AM tomorrow (7).

As this earthquake occurred during the peak travel period of the Spring Festival holiday, in addition to coordinating with TRA and bus operators to assist passengers with transfers at THSR Zuoying and Taichung Stations, THSR has also adjusted ticket handling and refund/exchange policies. Details are as follows:
1) For passengers holding tickets on trains delayed or canceled due to the earthquake, if the ticket has not been used, you may visit any THSR station ticket window within one year from the original travel date to request a full refund with no service fee. Alternatively, you may use your original ticket to board subsequent trains on a space-available basis or exchange it for a reserved seat on another available train.
2) Passengers who purchased tickets for the Taichung–Zuoying section today will receive a refund for the unused portion. Refunds can be processed at any THSR station ticket window within one year using the original ticket.
3) Additionally, out of care for passengers traveling during the Spring Festival, THSR is providing transfer services to TRA or buses for passengers affected by the earthquake. The costs of these transfer services will be covered by THSR on a case-by-case basis.
