It’s peak cherry blossom season, and about 60% of the Kawazu cherry blossom avenue in the Yangguang Sports Park in Xindian, New Taipei City, has already bloomed. The pink blossoms line both sides of the riverside path, attracting many visitors in recent days to take photos or stroll beneath the trees, soaking in the blissful atmosphere of the floral abundance.

The cherry trees planted in the Xindian Yangguang Sports Park (from Yangguang Intersection Park to Xizhou Park) are Kawazu cherry trees from Kawazu Town on Japan’s Izu Peninsula. These large, pink blossoms began blooming around mid-February and will continue through mid-March. They not only add scenic beauty to the park but also make New Taipei City another great spot for cherry blossom viewing—without the need to travel to remote mountain or coastal areas or battle crowds just to enjoy the flowers in peace. It’s truly one of the most convenient places to admire cherry blossoms.
