The 2016 S.Pellegrino Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list has been released, with Bangkok-based Indian restaurant Gaggan in Thailand taking the top spot for the second consecutive year. Two restaurants from Taiwan also made the list, including Le Mout, a French restaurant in Taichung, and RAW in Taipei, ranking 30th and 46th respectively.

The Saint Pierre Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is voted on by over 300 chefs, restaurateurs, and food experts from six Asian countries. In the 2016 list, the top spot was once again claimed by Gaggan in Bangkok, Thailand, while the second place went to Narisawa, a French restaurant in Tokyo — notably, this marks Narisawa's third consecutive year in second place. The third place was taken by Restaurant Andre in Singapore, helmed by renowned Taiwanese chef André Chiang.

In this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, Japan and Singapore each had 10 restaurants featured, Hong Kong had 9, Mainland China had 4, and Taiwan had 2. Taiwan’s two entries were Le Mout in Taichung, which ranked 26th last year and moved up to 30th this year, and RAW, which has just celebrated its first anniversary and made its debut on the Saint Pierre Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list at number 46.
