Renowned Japanese photographer Mika Ninagawa launched a large-scale world tour retrospective exhibition in 2016, with its first overseas stop taking place at Taipei MOCA Contemporary Art Museum from March 19 to May 8, a piece of news that has excited many fans.

Mika Ninagawa’s works have always demonstrated a daring, innovative, and diverse style. Her pieces often feature floral imagery, goldfish, and female figures rendered in rich, saturated colors, creating a surreal scene that blurs the line between reality and fantasy—each work distinctly reflecting her personal touch and Japanese cultural essence. This special exhibition marks not only Ninagawa’s first major retrospective but also the first leg of her global tour. It will present various facets of Mika Ninagawa to Taiwanese audiences, with works displayed both indoors and outdoors, including series such as NINAGAWA WOMAN and NINAGAWA MAN. In addition, a limited-edition beverage collaboration between Mika Ninagawa and Iyemon Green Tea is exclusively available at 7-Eleven. Mika Ninagawa herself attended the press conference for the exhibition opening on March 17. Lexus’s general agent, Hotai Motor, also announced a collaboration with Mika Ninagawa to launch a custom-painted RX vehicle. The bold, avant-garde installation art will also be showcased during the Mika Ninagawa solo exhibition at Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art.
