Outside of Tokyo, the Kawazu-zakura season in Sakado City’s Sumiyoshi area is a major spring event. Near the confluence of the Yaji River and Iimori River in Tsukagoe, Sakado City, vast stretches of Kawazu-zakura blossoms create an overwhelmingly beautiful sight. The open riverside landscape paired with the pink cherry blossoms makes a stroll here a delightful spring experience.

Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Sakado
Sumiyoshi Kawazu-zakura
Blooming period: Late February to mid-March
Location: Near the confluence of the Yaji River and Iimori River in Tsukagoe, Sakado City
Transportation: Take a bus bound for Sumiyoshi Shrine Station after getting off at Wakaba Station on the Tobu Tojo Line, then walk 10 minutes from the bus stop
Kitaasaba Yasaka no Kan-zakura
Blooming period: Mid-March to late March
Location: Kitaasaba area
Transportation: After exiting from the west exit of Kita-Sakado Station on the Tobu Tojo Line, take a Kawagoe Sightseeing Bus to Imashinai Station, then walk 10 minutes from the bus stop

Korekawa Sakura Embankment
Blooming period: Late March to early April
Location: Right bank of the Korekawa River
Transportation: Walk 15 minutes from the west exit of Kita-Sakado Station on the Tobu Tojo Line
Weeping Cherry of Jigenji Temple
Blooming period: Late March to early April
Location: Jigenji Temple in Nakanosaka
Transportation: After getting off at Wakaba Station on the Tobu Tojo Line, take a bus bound for Nakanosaka Station, then walk 3 minutes from the bus stop
※ The weeping cherry of Jigenji Temple is designated as a natural monument of Sakado City and is over 250 years old

Location: Jigenji Temple in Nakanosaka
Transportation: After getting off at Wakaba Station on the Tobu Tojo Line, take a Tobu Bus to the stop near , then walk 5 minutes from the bus stop
