One of the Seven Wonders of the World — the Mayan Pyramids of Mexico

Mexico is a country where modern tourism blends with ancient civilizations. In addition to the world-famous beach resort of Cancun, it is also home to Chichen Itza, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World selected in recent years, representing the Mayan civilization. This ancient city, known for its Mayan calendar and astronomy, exudes an air of mystery that captivates visitors, making it an absolute must-see destination when traveling to Mexico.

Around the year 600 AD, Chichen Itza was one of the most important and prosperous city-states during the Mayan Classic Period, featuring stone structures such as temples, palaces, stages, and ball courts, many of which remain well-preserved to this day. Among these architectural wonders, the most famous is the Temple of Kukulkan, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. Although not as massive as the Egyptian pyramids, the towering stone structure rising from a bed of green grass is still awe-inspiring. The Temple of Kukulkan is situated right at the center of Chichen Itza. True to its name, the entire building was constructed in honor of the feathered serpent god, and at the top of the pyramid, you can even see the red throne of the Feathered Serpent Jaguar God.
