To allow nature ample time to rest, Lake Jiaming, known as the "Angel's Tears," entered a three-month quiet period starting January 5, 105 (2016), during which the area was completely closed and mountain hut applications were suspended. Now, the Taitung Forest Management Office has announced that the Lake Jiaming National Trail will reopen on April 1, giving everyone the chance to admire the beautiful scenery of Lake Jiaming.

The Lake Jiaming National Trail is part of the Southern Section II of the Central Mountain Range. The trail features well-marked paths and diverse alpine ecological landscapes, passing through Taiwan hemlock forests, Taiwan fir forests, high-mountain valleys, cliff faces, bamboo grasslands, and mountain ridges. The scenic highlights that have long attracted hikers include the echoing calls of deer in the valley, contiguous mountain peaks, winter snowscapes, bright moonlight, and star-filled skies.

The Xiangyang Mountain and Sancha Mountain sections of the trail each offer unique ecological landscapes. Xiangyang Mountain marks the southernmost limit of the alpine tundra ecosystem in the Central Mountain Range, while Sancha Mountain is renowned for its vast and magnificent alpine grasslands and the sapphire-like Lake Jiaming. The vibrant flowers of spring and summer, as well as the winter snowscapes on both mountains, are must-see sights.After three months of quiet rejuvenation, Lake Jiaming reopened on April 1. Regulations related to entry and mountain hut applications will also be announced on that day.
