The much-anticipated annual international event, the "2016 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival," kicked off on May 7th. Blessed with naturally golden-hued quartz sand, this year’s festival takes "Glory of the Golden Sand" as its theme. With the superb craftsmanship of sand sculptors, a natural golden sand stage is created, using the beautiful sand to intricately carve the world's top first-class records on the Earth's surface, showcasing extraordinary glory.

This year, a total of 24 top sand sculpture artists from 13 countries participated, each infusing magical creativity into their works, making them more vivid than ever. The 80 sand sculptures are mesmerizing, leaving viewers in awe and exclaiming “so cool!” The exhibition runs from May 7th to July 10th. To promote life aesthetics and help root sand sculpture art in the community, internationally renowned sand sculptor Teacher Wang Songguan (Wang Tuo) has been specially invited to conduct two sand sculpture teaching demonstrations during the event (on 5/28 and 6/04). Participants will learn how to find fun in playing with sand, gain a sense of achievement, and sculpt their own personal glory.

The 2016 theme focuses on showcasing world-class sand sculpture aesthetics. The golden sands of Fulong on the Northeast Coast will use unique golden grains to depict the finest glories across various fields worldwide (architecture, painting, music, history and culture, etc.), such as the most intense short-distance race in the animal kingdom, the country with the highest density of butterflies in the world, the tallest building in the world, the most expensive famous painting in the world, and more. It will also feature moments exclusive to Taiwan’s glory, such as Taiwan’s first female president, the liveliest night markets in Taiwan, the moment when thousands of Taiwanese sky lanterns are released, and the vibrant
