The Flower Trial Center is located in the Yangmingshan area, with its main grounds covering over 4 hectares. Originally the Shanzihou Work Station of the Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Research Institute, it initially focused on research related to fruit trees such as citrus. Thanks to its favorable climate and soil conditions, which are highly suitable for cultivating low-altitude temperate flowering plants, it has since 1949 been dedicated to the collection of camellia and azalea varieties, domestication efforts, and improvements in cultivation techniques. In 2003, it opened to the public, displaying the long-term results of its cultivation and research. Currently, the Flower Trial Center features themed sections such as the Camellia Area, Herb Garden, Fragrant Flower Area, Native Azalea Zone, Maple Tree Section, Coniferous Tree Area, Yoshino Cherry Area, Fern & Begonia Greenhouse, and Succulent Plant Greenhouse, each highlighting specific plant themes. There is also a camellia walking path paved with sleepers and pebbles, offering a relaxing stroll to enjoy the beauty of seasonal changes.
