Traveling abroad, encountering rainy days can sometimes be a nuisance, but it can also lead to unexpected surprises. In the Cappadocia region of Turkey, renowned worldwide for its unique terrain, a thunderstorm occurred around 20:00 local time on June 5, creating a massive double rainbow above Pigeon Valley. With its full semi-circular arc resembling a colorful protective shield enveloping the land, the sight excited both tourists and locals, who rushed to capture the moment with their cameras.

Turkish tour guide Seckin Aydemir said that the Turkish word for rainbow is “Gökkuşağı.” In the cartoons he watched as a child, the place where rainbows originated was said to hide countless treasures of gold; if one could pass through the arc of the rainbow, their heart’s desires would come true. Seckin Aydemir also joked, “When you grow up, you realize that’s not possible.”

Pigeon Valley is one of the representative spots in the Cappadocia region. Countless caves carved along the valley walls became habitats for pigeons after residents left. Enhanced by the rainbow spectacle, Pigeon Valley has gained even more charm.
