The most anticipated “2016 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival” of summer will run from May 7 to July 10 at Fulong Beach. This year’s exhibition includes the world’s tallest giant sand sculpture, as well as Taiwan’s night markets, Pingxi sky lanterns, and newly elected President Tsai Ing-wen, all of which have become sand sculpture themes for this event.

This year marks the ninth edition of the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival. A total of 24 top sand sculptors from 13 countries have created 80 sand sculptures under the theme “Glory of Golden Sand – The Best in the World.” The highlight is an 11-meter-tall giant sand sculpture featuring iconic structures such as Taipei 101, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, the Twin Towers, and Tokyo Skytree. There is also a remarkably lifelike sand sculpture of the newly elected President Tsai Ing-wen.
