The movie “A Hologram for the King,” adapted from a bestselling novel, is the newest project by Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks and “Run Lola Run” director Tom Tykwer. It will be grandly released on June 17.

In this film, Tom Hanks plays a salesman trapped in a midlife crisis. To escape massive debts and pay for his daughter’s college tuition, he flies all the way from the United States to Saudi Arabia just to pitch high-tech products to the local king, in a desperate attempt to turn his miserable life around.

From then on begins an overseas journey. Thinking he could earn a fortune, things never go as planned and the king never shows up. Left with no choice, he waits helplessly, as this is his only shot at turning his life around.

Tom Hanks once again embodies the spirit of “Forrest Gump,” saving his own life. Coupled with Tom Tykwer’s stylized storytelling, the film is more moving and inspirational than “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” and its all-or-nothing intensity rivals that of “Birdman.” Audiences are sure to gain different levels of life inspiration after watching.
