The 2016 Taoyuan Shimen Hot Air Balloon Carnival unfolds on June 18, 19, 25, and 26 at the Nanyuan Ecological Park of Shimen Reservoir, offering a variety of themed events such as tethered hot air balloon ascents and nighttime light sculpture concerts — bringing a rare hot air balloon carnival experience right here in Taoyuan.

To promote local industry development, the Shimen Hot Air Balloon Carnival has teamed up with local fresh fish and yacht operators, allowing visitors to savor the delicious fresh fish of Shimen Reservoir while enjoying the beautiful lakeside scenery. The event site will also feature a re-illumination of the “Qitian Chuang Hongyun” (Heavenly Creation Brings Prosperity) main lantern from the Taiwan Lantern Festival. To encourage the use of public transportation, Taiwan Tourist Shuttle buses are offered at a 20% discount throughout the event period. Everyone is invited to take a hot air balloon ride and explore Shimen.
