Universal Studios Japan is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and has recently announced the opening of the “Minions Area” in 2017. Centered around the popular animated character the Minions, it will feature brand-new attractions, an original merchandise store, and a Minions restaurant, covering an area of 8,400 square meters. Once opened, it will be the world’s largest “Minions Area.”

The brand-new “Minions Area” will be reconstructed from the closed Back to the Future area in May. In addition, a series of promotional events will be held in conjunction with the movie Despicable Me 3, along with special merchandise releases, which are expected to spark a Minions craze.

The Minions have always been a popular character at Universal Studios Japan and played a key role in the 15th-anniversary celebrations. A variety of cute merchandise and meals were launched, and the park’s hotel also introduced Minions-themed suites. The newly planned “Minions Area” will open in 2017 – fans of the Minions shouldn’t miss it.
