The Baiyang Trail in Taroko, once selected by foreign media as one of the world’s must-visit attractions, has recently reopened after five months of renovation. Spanning 2.1 kilometers in length, the path is generally flat and easy to navigate. This popular tourist destination takes about two hours for a round trip, offering visitors views of waterfalls, canyons, and the magical landscape of “Shuiliandong.”

The Baiyang Trail originated as a construction road for Taiwan Power Company. Among its features is the Shuiliandong (Water Curtain Cave) located at the 2.1 km mark, where mountain spring water pours down from the water-bearing layer on the tunnel ceiling, creating a spectacular curtain-like effect that attracts many visitors. However, the rock layers inside the tunnel may still be loosened and fall due to the strong erosion caused by the flowing water, so visitors should pay extra attention to the surrounding conditions when entering the cave.

The Taroko National Park Administration also reminds visitors that the pool in front of the Shuiliandong entrance is designed to divert water from inside the cave into the Tachia River, and also serves as the water intake source for the Tianxiang area. To ensure water safety, visitors are asked not to enter the pool or play in the water to avoid polluting the water source. Starting from 9:00 AM on June 23, 2016, the Baiyang Trail is open up to the Shuiliandong; however, the Baiyang Suspension Bridge remains temporarily closed as it has not yet passed inspection.
