The 2016 Taipei Water Festival begins on June 25 and runs until August 31 at the Gongguan Water Park. In addition to the existing Water Town Garden, temporary play equipment has been installed to provide more space for water play and relaxation. A series of activities including water facilities, diverse events, and environmental education courses will also be offered to help visitors learn about healthy water play, ecological environments, and cultural arts.

3. Taichung Blue Ocean Tourism Season

Taichung City is hosting the 2016 Taichung Blue Ocean Tourism Season, which takes place from June 15 to August 13 at the Dajia Coastal Park. The series kicks off with the “Dajia Coastal International Sand Sculpture Exhibition,” featuring 20 sand sculptures themed around the ocean world. A creative sand sculpture competition is also being held, inviting Japan’s only female sand sculptor, “Yuko Matsuki,” to create onsite alongside other domestic and international sand sculpture masters.

The 2016 Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf Summer Sea Festival begins on July 9, with this year’s theme “Summer Fun Jia.” Over the course of two consecutive weekend holiday periods, the event offers a rich variety of evening programs as well as smaller daytime activities. Water play facilities such as the whale pool will also be fully open, making it an ideal destination for family outings during the summer vacation.
