Pokemon Go is an augmented reality mobile game that has become a global phenomenon. By using maps and GPS positioning, players must move around the city to catch Pokémon. Many museums and art galleries have also specifically posted notices indicating that there are rare Pokémon available for players to catch, which can also attract visitors to view the collections inside.

For example, Washington National Park, The Andy Warhol Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York have all shared photos of Pokémon appearing within their grounds on social media. Staff have even been seen pretending to catch them, and these images have sparked lively discussions and drawn many visitors to these locations.

However, not all places welcome these players. Museums such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland have stated that they hope players will not play the game on their premises, as a sign of respect for these solemn and dignified sites.
