The Xingjia Suspension Bridge was constructed in 2007 by a private charitable organization to make commuting easier for schoolchildren and local residents, connecting Xing’an Village and Xing Village. After the Public Works Office carried out an illumination enhancement project, the nighttime scenery of the bridge became even more enchanting, attracting many tourists and photography enthusiasts to admire and capture its beauty.

The Xingjia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer-long bicycle path lined with Taiwan Lagerstroemia trees. To the south lies the Xingren Section’s riverside sports park and water-friendly park. Additionally, the Xing Village Section offers an ecological embankment trail, an ecological garden, and the religious wood carvings at Cih Xuan Temple — all signs that Chiayi City’s southern district is developing into a thriving ecological leisure space.

To enhance the bridge’s aesthetic appeal and create a talking point, neon lighting was specially installed on the structure. The Public Works Office allocated a budget of NT$2.97 million for the illumination enhancement project, adding a total of 520 LED light installations along both sides of the bridge. Six cables were outfitted with 99 strip lights each, symbolizing the “520.6.99” (I love you forever) code, representing everlasting love. Another NT$680,000 was allocated for bridge improvements, including renovating aging wooden walkways, repainting wooden railings, and rust removal on metal parts. Under the night sky, the bridge resembles a necklace of long, glowing beads, standing out brilliantly with a unique nocturnal charm, becoming a beautiful landmark along the urban blue corridor.

The light show was well-received during its trial phase around Qixi Festival. Moving forward, the light display will "sparkle" weekly, featuring different colored lights and dynamic hourly shows from 7 PM to 10 PM each evening (lights remain on until 11 PM). With its distinctive nighttime allure, it’s expected to become a top romantic spot for couples and a new leisure option for families.
The striking red arch-shaped suspension bridge takes on different moods by day and by night. The Xingjia Suspension Bridge connects nearby riverside parks, water-friendly parks, and cycling paths rich in natural ecology. At sunset, you can stroll across the bridge, gaze at the sky filled with rosy clouds, and admire the golden splendor of Cih Xuan Temple — creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene of happiness.
