Taiwan Railways Train Operation Info in Response to Typhoon Meranti – Update 1: Before midnight on September 13, all trains across all lines operate as normal. Train schedules may be adjusted at any time depending on weather conditions to ensure passenger safety.

Train Operation Info as of 12:00 PM on September 14, 2016: Based on the 7th report of Typhoon No. 14 from the Central Weather Bureau, Taiwan Railways has the following train operation plans:
1. The Eastern Line (Hualien = Taitung) and South-Link Line (Taitung = Xinzuoying) will suspend all services for the entire day.
2. All trains on the Yilan and North-Link Lines (Shulin = Hualien) will operate as normal for the entire day.
3. On the Western Line (Keelung = Kaohsiung, including all branch lines), all trains will operate as normal before 12:00 PM.
4. Trains on the Pingtung Line (Kaohsiung = Fangliao) will operate flexibly depending on wind and rain conditions.
5. The Alishan Forest Railway will suspend all train services on both September 14 and 15.
After the Central Weather Bureau issued the strong typhoon Meranti sea and land warning, Taiwan Railways elevated its Level 2 emergency response team to Level 1, with personnel from various units taking turns to staff the emergency response center. Passengers traveling on Taiwan Railways during the Mid-Autumn holiday should pay attention to any changes in train schedules.
