Due to Typhoon Meranti, at 13:38 today, September 14 (Wednesday), an incident occurred where strong winds blew down and entangled a vegetable net around overhead lines at the Yanchao section of Kaohsiung, causing the pantograph of southbound Train 633 to break and the train to make a temporary stop.
Due to this incident, services between Tainan and Zuoying have been suspended. All southbound trains will operate only as far as Tainan, and northbound trains will depart from Tainan Station instead.
Taiwan High Speed Rail, based on the latest typhoon information, announced that full-line services will remain normal today (September 14) and on Mid-Autumn Festival Day (September 15). To ensure operational safety, if wind speeds or rainfall in certain sections become too severe and reach operational restriction standards, trains will implement speed limits. In addition, after reviewing seat reservation status for Mid-Autumn Festival Day, the high-speed rail company has decided to add four more southbound services to help transport passengers effectively, and ticket sales will open starting at 10:00 AM on September 14.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival transport period, all services will maintain 3 to 5 cars of non-reserved seating. Passengers holding periodical tickets, round-trip tickets, or Easycard co-branded cards (with auto top-up enabled) can directly tap in and use the non-reserved cars. In addition, the high-speed rail company will adjust operations flexibly, adding extra all-non-reserved cars as needed based on station crowds and transport capacity.
