It takes about 15 minutes on foot from Wanggu Station to reach the Wanggu Waterfall Trail. This trail is part of the historic Wanggu Ancient Path, now restored by New Taipei City’s Tourism and Travel Bureau, making it a great spot for friends, family, or couples to explore together. Wanggu Waterfall features four cascading levels, with emerald-blue pools below the falls that look like a scene from a fairy tale—absolutely worth a stop to admire.

The riverside area across from Wanggu Waterfall is lush and green, resembling a hidden sanctuary. In this tranquil setting, all you can hear is the sound of rushing water. Visitors here will find joy in the serene ambiance surrounded by beautiful views and vibrant greenery.

Wanggu Station is the quietest stop on the Pingxi Branch Line, with very few passengers typically getting on or off. Unlike Shifen Waterfall and Pingxi Old Street—which attract large numbers of tourists—the graceful curve of the railway tracks in front of Wanggu Station is a favorite spot for train enthusiasts to capture photos of passing trains. Before heading to the Wanggu Waterfall Trail, you’ll pass by the former Qinghe Coal Mine work platform, which serves as an excellent vantage point for watching trains. Many rail fans specifically come here to wait for the trains to pass by.
