With a total investment of up to US$3.4 billion, MGM COTAI will officially open on January 29, 2018. The hotel features an innovative and stylish design. In addition to housing Asia’s first dynamic theatre — the MGM Theatre — and a collection of over 300 premium artworks, the property boasts as many as nine restaurants, offering Western fine dining, contemporary Californian-style cuisine, Japanese-Peruvian dishes, desserts, Cantonese food, Sichuan cuisine, hot pot, handmade pasta, and bars.

The MGM Theatre can accommodate up to 2,000 spectators and is equipped with a massive 900-square-meter 4K LED screen, which is equivalent in size to three tennis courts, making it the world’s first theatre to offer audiences a 28-million-pixel viewing experience. The theatre also offers more than ten different seating configurations to meet the diverse needs of various events, including concerts, fashion shows, movie premieres, product launches, and performances by internationally renowned DJs. The MGM Theatre will feature three resident shows, with the first two — “The Experience” and “Destiny” — premiering first.

MGM COTAI also boasts a strong dining lineup, featuring consulting chefs such as Michelin-starred chefs Mauro Colagreco and Graham Elliot, Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, and Asia’s Best Pastry Chef Susur Lee’s protégé Janice Wong. They oversee “Flame” (Western cuisine), “Tide” (Californian cuisine), “Yaki” (Japanese-Peruvian cuisine), and “Janice Wong MGM,” respectively. Other offerings include “Pure” for Cantonese cuisine, “Shu Dao” for Sichuan dishes, “Face to Face” — a year-round handmade pasta restaurant, and “The Bar” for cocktails.

Flame is led by star chef Mauro Colagreco, using premium meats meticulously selected from farms around the world, paired with classic dishes; Tide is overseen by Michelin-starred chef and popular “Top Chef” host Graham Elliot, who draws inspiration from the laid-back lifestyle of the American West Coast to present contemporary Californian cuisine to Macau diners; Yaki is the first restaurant in Macau to offer Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, led by Peruvian culinary master Mitsuharu Tsumura, whose restaurant Maido was recently ranked No. 1 on the “2017 Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants” list. As for Janice Wong MGM, headed by Janice Wong, who has been awarded Asia’s Best Pastry Chef and the World’s Best Pastry Chef, the dessert restaurant also features a giant 7.3-meter chocolate fountain — the largest in the world.
