Taiwan’s bountiful autumn harvest of its fertile island is nurtured in Zhudong, where the land enriches its people, echoing the resilient spirit of the local Hakka community. To promote regional agricultural products, the Zhudong District Farmers’ Association is holding the Zhudong Town Rice Field Carnival on December 10 and 11. In addition to featuring a “rice field maze,” the event includes earth oven cooking, rice field dining experiences, and family-friendly challenge games—offering both food and fun.

This year, in addition to activities like earth oven cooking and the rice field maze, the event also features 20 booths of local agricultural products, along with performances by ukulele bands and young art troupes from Zhudong kindergartens. The Zhudong area has 750 hectares of rice paddies, making it an important granary for Hsinchu County. The hope is that through these events, more people will come to understand rice cultivation and appreciate the hard work of farmers.
