The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau noted that the “Family Trip” hand-drawn map foldout launched this October specially invited well-known illustrator and writer Xu Mei-yi to design the overall map and oversee the text editing. A multi-talented prose writer, cartoonist, and lyricist, Xu has been beloved by those born in the 1960s and 70s since the publication of her “Diary Exchange” illustrated book series. Through her keen observations and delicate writing style, she turns ordinary daily moments into vivid and delightful stories. Currently residing in Tainan, Xu holds deep affection for the city’s rich cultural landscape. When approached by the Tourism Bureau to participate in this illustrated map series, she drew upon her own experiences traveling with family to thoughtfully plan this family-focused map. With the goal of ensuring enjoyment for all ages—including seniors with mobility issues or health concerns—the selected attractions are all easily accessible. This thoughtful planning helps make stress-free, joyful travel a reality. Let’s follow her guide and head to Tainan to create sweet memories as a family.

The illustrator’s hand-drawn “Family Trip” map foldout has been available for free distribution since Friday, October 28. The public is welcome to visit any of Tainan’s tourism service centers or the Yonghua and Minzhi Municipal Joint Service Centers to pick one up. Supplies are limited, but you can also download it from the “Tainan Tourism Network” (http://www.twtainan.net/).
