40 marching bands perform on the streets as the Chiayi International Wind Band Festival kicks off in grand style
Organized by the Chiayi City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau, the “Chiayi City International Wind Band Festival” is about to enter its 25th edition. As Taiwan’s only and most historic music festival, it carries the slogan “Where there’s wind band music, there’s Chiayi” and will feature lively street performances from December 10 to 25.

This year’s wind band festival revolves around three main themes—“music, tourism, and public welfare”—and includes a variety of related events such as indoor and outdoor concerts, wind band street parades, and evening performances featuring dynamic formations. The public across Taiwan is welcome to join the wind band craze in Chiayi and enjoy this rare musical feast.
