As the weather gets colder, following reports of snowfall in Beijing, Tokyo, Japan also experienced rain mixed with snow on November 24, marking the first November snowfall in 54 years. Cold fronts and snowfall forecasts have been issued for central Tokyo and the Kanto region. Travelers planning to visit Japan soon should pay special attention to packing warm clothing.

In past records, Tokyo experienced its earliest snowfall on November 17, 1900. At around 6:15 a.m. on November 24, 2016, the first snowfall of the year was observed in Otemachi, Tokyo — the first November snowfall in 54 years since 1962. Snow accumulation across various regions on November 24 included 22 cm in Karuizawa, 20 cm in Kawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture, 11 cm in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, and 2 cm in Chiba Prefecture.
