With the passage of the "one fixed rest day and one flexible rest day" bill, it was confirmed that there would be no seven-day national holidays in 2017. Before the end of 2016, workers could still take an extra day off because December 25 (Constitution Day) fell on a Sunday, and many businesses chose to grant a compensatory day off on either December 23 or December 26. Failure to provide such compensation may violate the Labor Standards Act, so workers should pay extra attention. The period from December 23 to 26 also coincides with the Christmas season, making it a great time to explore wonderful Christmas and winter attractions and plan a festive holiday trip.

When December 25 falls on a Sunday, according to the Labor Standards Act, workers can still take an additional day off, which is also the last holiday of the seven-day break. As for which day the compensatory leave will be granted, it depends on negotiations between employers and employees.
