Once hailed as Taiwan’s most beautiful railway branch line, the century-old Old Mountain Line winds from Sanyi in Miaoli County all the way to Houli District in Taichung City. Along the way, it passes two stations (Shengxing and the former Tai’an Station), three railway bridges (the Longteng Broken Bridge, Liyutan Bridge, and Da’anxi Bridge) and eight tunnels. With its diverse and ever-changing scenery, it has even been proposed as a potential UNESCO World Heritage Site. As a result, its historic sites have become viral photography hotspots, attracting large numbers of visitors.
