Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je Kicks Off Countdown with Celebrities – The Hottest New Year’s Eve in Taipei

One of the highlights of the year – the New Year’s Eve countdown – always attracts tourists from around the world to Taiwan, especially the Taipei 101 fireworks show, which is an internationally renowned attraction. Due to this major international event, the Taipei City Government has decided to kick off the celebrations one month early, turning the entire city of Taipei into a hub of countdown-themed events. The “2017 New Year’s Eve Countdown & New Year’s City Launch” press conference was grandly held on the 8th to announce the start of the countdown series. Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je, along with celebrities Eddie Peng and Aming, jointly launched the opening ceremony, symbolizing the official start of Taipei’s New Year’s Eve festivities.

In addition to the spectacular evening performances, Taipei’s New Year’s Eve celebration also features a diverse range of activities, including the “Love Photo Collection Campaign,” “Happy Xinyi · Christmas Treasure Hunt,” “94 Love Sports,” and “Universiade 250 Countdown Run to 2017.” Local businesses were also invited to join in, decorating the Xinyi shopping district with various installations, lights, and Christmas trees, offering both domestic and international visitors a unique New Year’s Eve atmosphere in Taipei.
