The Thai government, aiming to stimulate tourism, recently announced that from December 1 until February 28, 2017, visitors to Thailand could have the 1,200 baht visa fee waived. However, there was a daily cap of 2,000 applicants, leading to a rush among the public. On December 9, the Thai Trade and Economic Office posted a notice stating that starting December 12, the quota limit would be removed, opening the visa fee exemption to all travelers applying for tourist visas.
