The U.S. Federal Reserve has confirmed an interest rate hike, causing the yen to fall below 117 against the U.S. dollar today (15th). The cash opening exchange rate of the yen against the New Taiwan dollar reached 0.274, with one New Taiwan dollar able to be exchanged for about 3.649 yen — hitting a one-year low. Those looking to exchange yen should seize the opportunity.

This is the first time the Fed has raised interest rates since December 2015, and only the second time in the past 10 years. The strengthening of the U.S. dollar has led to the depreciation of the yen. Travelers planning a trip to Japan might want to take advantage of this timing to exchange currency, and make use of the many ongoing promotions to plan a special winter trip to Japan.
