The popular Tokyo fashion and street photography dessert, ZAKUZAKU stick puffs, officially launched its first overseas store on December 23 on the first floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi’s Taipei Xinyi New World A11 building. On the morning of the Taiwan store’s opening day, people lined up early, and after official sales began, the crowd continued to grow. Although the wait time reached several hours within half an hour of opening, the enthusiasm of those queuing showed no signs of fading.

ZAKUZAKU stick puffs are defined by three key features: “freshly filled custard cream on order,” “a crispy, rich triple-layer texture,” and “a unique stick-shaped design.” The puffs themselves are made with ingredients carefully selected from Hokkaido, Japan, then transported to Taiwan and freshly baked daily in-store. The soul of the puff — the custard filling — is made using 100% premium fresh milk sourced exclusively from contracted local Taiwanese farms, and the brand’s proprietary high-speed vacuum mixer creates an ultra-smooth custard sauce right in the store.

Each bite of the stick puff offers a triple delight: “toasted almond bits with a crisp fragrance,” “golden, slightly burnt crispy puffs,” and “rich, smooth freshly filled custard cream.” In Taiwan, ZAKUZAKU stick puffs are priced at NT$88 per piece and NT$498 for a set of six.
