When travelers are no longer content to simply be passive observers, to meet the needs of in-depth tourists, it’s no longer enough to just offer surface-level food, fun, and entertainment. Many industries in Taiwan have also come to realize that only by looking back and re-examining themselves, enriching their own energy and cultivation, and communicating their unique style to travelers in more creative ways, can they not only open a different window for themselves but also unfold a brand-new perspective for travelers.

Guided by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Industrial Development Bureau and implemented by the nonprofit China Productivity Center, the “Creative Life Industry Promotion Plan” was launched in 2003 and continues to this day. It selects creative life industries grounded in cultural heritage. To date, 172 member industries are spread across Taiwan, ranging from restaurants, bookstores, art, bakeries, incense arts, accommodations, to various traditional industries and tourist factories, covering all kinds of tourism and lifestyle-related sectors. Although the types of businesses vary, what they all share is an operational approach and style deeply rooted in culture and committed to corporate philosophy, offering travelers a richer lifestyle attitude and experiential journey.

Examples include “Lavender Cottage,” which operates on the essence of spreading happiness; “Nanyuan The One,” where lodging becomes a cultural and sensory feast; “Yokai Village,” which built a whimsical forest monster world from the aftermath of a natural disaster; “How’s Design,” akin to a spatial aesthetics magician; “World Chocolate Dream Park,” which turns chocolate into a kaleidoscopic art exhibition; or “A-Yuan Tamsui Tian Guang,” which translates deep humanistic ideals into product concepts. What they bring us is not just a wonderful travel experience, but also an ideal vision of a beautiful life.
