The Jinshan God of Wealth Temple primarily worships the Five Directions God of Wealth and features Taiwan’s first-ever “God of Wealth Bank,” where visitors can borrow “lucky money” ranging from 100 to 300 times the amount based on the number of divined “holy cups.” The borrowed money should be deposited into a personal bank account and later repaid as a vow if the wish comes true. At the Shiding Five Directions God of Wealth Temple, aside from getting “fortune-bringing money,” visitors can also exchange their loose change for “money water” with the Tiger God—though not in inflated amounts (i.e., you can’t exchange one dollar for ten). Located in Zhonghe, the Hongluo Temple of Earth God in Nanshan features a 108-meter-tall statue of the Earth God. At the Temple of Welcoming Fortune and Seeing Off Poverty in Daxi, Taoyuan, visitors can scoop a ladle of water from the “Fortune Water and Transformation Pool” at the entrance, sprinkle it on a golden ingot first, then dip their fingers in the water on the ingot and dot it onto various parts of their body to symbolize purification. After praying inside the temple, walking through the “Holy Cup Path” at the exit signifies receiving blessings of good fortune from the Five Directions God of Wealth.
