Spring is the season when flowers bloom in full splendor, and the cherry blossom season is in full swing. In recent years, the cherry blossom craze has been growing year by year, with hidden sakura spots being discovered all over Taiwan. Once hailed as one of Taiwan’s Eight Scenic Wonders during the Japanese colonial period, Baxianshan (Eight Immortals Mountain), which is as renowned as Sun Moon Lake and Alishan, is also one of Taiwan’s three major forest areas. The Baxianshan Forest Recreation Area is currently in full bloom and is the best secret spot for cherry blossom viewing in central Taiwan. The park is home to about 1,000 mountain cherry trees. In addition to cherry blossoms, peach and plum blossoms are also in bloom, making Baxianshan look like a paradise straight out of Tao Yuanming’s writings.

Besides flower viewing, you can also visit the nearby Guguan area for hot springs. The park also features cozy cabins that serve as both accommodation and dining spaces.
