The World’s 50 Best Restaurants: André Chiang’s Singapore Restaurant Makes the List Again

The UK’s Restaurant magazine has released its 2016 list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca, which ranked first in 2015, dropped to second place, while Italy’s Osteria Francescana, which was ranked second last year, claimed the top spot. André Chiang, known as the greatest chef of the Indian Ocean, saw his Singapore restaurant Restaurant André ranked 32nd, a significant leap from its 46th place ranking in 2015.

Japan’s Narisawa, which also has a branch in Taiwan, also made the list, ranking 31st. Other Asian restaurants on the list include Japan’s Narisawa (8th), Hong Kong’s Amber (20th), Bangkok’s Gaggan (23rd), Bangkok’s Nahm (37th), and Shanghai’s Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet (42nd).
