The Alishan cherry blossom season kicked off enthusiastically on March 10th. Every spring, it presents a spectacular sea of flowers, attracting countless visitors on pilgrimage, and has even been voted by netizens as the most popular cherry blossom viewing spot from 2016 to 2017. The Alisha Forest Recreation Area has the largest number of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, with over 1,900 trees. The second most numerous are Taiwan mountain cherries, with more than 1,780 trees, and there are also over a thousand double-flowered Yaezakura. The most famous star among them is the Somei Yoshino King Cherry Blossom at the Alishan Work Station, which is currently about 30% in bloom. As temperatures rise, the condition of the blossoms will change both in the early morning and late evening. Below are three different angles of the King Blossom – a close-up, a full view, and a medium shot. The weekend holidays will see it enter full bloom, and next week other spots’ Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms will also follow suit.
