The Qingjing walkway is creating a buzz even before its opening, generating ongoing online hype. In addition to officially naming Taiwan’s highest walkway the “Qingjing High-Altitude Scenic Walkway,” the county government also plans to introduce a bundled ticket. By using any transport to reach Qingjing, visitors can enjoy discounted entry to the Qingjing walkway, in hopes of alleviating traffic pressure. Originally built by Nantou County Government to solve pedestrian-vehicle conflicts in Qingjing and ensure visitor safety, the “Qingjing High-Altitude Scenic Walkway” has unexpectedly garnered media attention even before opening. It has sparked heated discussions in online news and seen continuously climbing hit rates.

The “Qingjing High-Altitude Scenic Walkway,” set to open in May, will limit the number of visitors to no more than 2,000 at a time to accommodate the expected crowds. Traffic mitigation measures are also under discussion to reduce the impact on transportation. To encourage the use of public transport to Qingjing, the county government plans to offer bundled ticket discounts and will collaborate with units such as the Puli Works Section to provide real-time traffic information through a road condition system, helping potential visitors avoid congestion.

The Tourism Bureau also stated that tickets for the Qingjing High-Altitude Scenic Walkway will be priced at NT$50 for adults, NT$30 for concessionary tickets, and NT$10 as an insurance fee for people with disabilities. Ticket booths will be set up at the Butterfly Garden, South End Commercial Area, and Sheep Castle. During peak holiday periods, shuttle buses will be used to transport visitors between the National Guesthouse and Qingqing Grassland.

With the Qingjing High-Altitude Scenic Walkway set to open in May, local businesses in Qingjing are anticipating a boom. The Qingjing Little Switzerland Windmill Festival, originally held during summer vacation, has been rescheduled to kick off on May 1. On April 28, an event will be held featuring a lakeside Blue Sky Walkway and a “sea of flowers” made of tens of thousands of windmills on the Blue Light Grassland to create a high-mountain tourism vibe. Additional activities, including a water screen laser show, will be added during the summer to extend fun from day to night.
