Show Lo, Matzka, and Sodagreen to Return for 2016 Gongliao Ocean Music Festival

The "2016 New Taipei City Gongliao International Ocean Music Festival," scheduled for July 22 to 24, has today officially announced its lineup of performing bands and singers, including artists and groups such as Show Lo, Matzka, Sodagreen, and Chairman Band, all of whom will take the stage.

On July 22, the first day event titled "Taiwan Rock: Battle for Supremacy" will feature creative bands and singers including HUSH, Zhang San Li Si, Little Men Band, Eggplant Egg, Chairman Band, and Huang Zi Xuan & Shan Ping Kuai, with Show Lo serving as the closing act. On July 23, during the Ocean Indie Music Awards, acts including 2014 Ocean Star winner "Taiwan Shuang," the Jury Grand Prize winner "Non-Human Species," and the Ocean Indie Music Awards winner "Ray Band," along with Matzka, will perform on stage. The top 10 finalist bands, such as Savakan, 300,000 Years Tiger Pliers, Tree of Life, and Annie Duo La, will also compete in the finals.

The third day, "World Rock Comes to Cheer," will showcase performances by seven creative groups from around the globe, including Aki, the core member of Japan’s visual kei band SID, and Ireland’s HOGAN, with Sodagreen serving as the grand finale act.

The New Taipei City Government stated that this year’s festival lineup includes nine groups that have been nominated for or won Golden Melody Awards, and six groups nominated for this year’s Golden Melody Awards. Among them, "Sodagreen" has been nominated in eight categories, including Best Mandarin Album and Best Band. "Zhang San Li Si" has also received five Golden Melody Award nominations. Headlining acts such as Show Lo, Matzka, and Sodagreen are all well-known bands and singers who originated from the Ocean Music Festival, sharing deep connections and affection for the festival stage. Their strong return this year holds special significance.
